Festive
April is Heritage month. The RBC Heritage golf tournament at Harbour Town Golf Links is one of the most beloved events on the PGA Tour — a rare tournament where fans walk alongside the players with almost no barrier between spectator and sport. The entire island energy shifts during Heritage week, and even non-golfers find themselves caught up in it.
Heritage week typically falls in mid-April and draws tens of thousands of visitors to the island. The tournament is known for its intimate atmosphere — Harbour Town’s tight layout and close gallery ropes put fans within feet of the world’s best players. Tickets are far easier to obtain than most PGA Tour events, and the combination of world-class golf and the Sea Pines setting makes it genuinely special.
Outside Heritage week, April is arguably the finest month on the island. Water temperatures reach the upper 60s, making the first beach swims of the season possible. The days are long and warm without July’s humidity. Golf courses are in peak condition. Easter and spring break bring families, and the island handles the energy well.
