Home - 16 Mallard, Forest Beach

This was a perfect home for our group of 18 (11 kids and 7 adults). It was clean, well stocked with towels and kitchen items, with plenty of space for everyone and just a short walk to the beach. The pool was cleaned twice while we were there. We had a wonderful experience staying here. It is good to note that one of the bunk rooms is in the guest house and not inside the house itself. We had 5 couples and 7 infants/toddlers. Really cool house with plenty of space, nice kitchen, great pool, game room, and big tv room that was perfect for the kids to roll around in. Location was phenomenal. Easy 5 min walk to the beach. Host was responsive and helpful.The one thing I wish I knew (maybe I missed this in the listing) was that one of the king bedrooms is buried within the master bedroom, rendering it relatively useless. The 5th couple to arrive had to stay in one of the bunk rooms. Despite this, everyone really enjoyed their stay. Overall, I would absolutely recommend staying here. It’s best for 4 couples with older kids to make use of the bunk rooms. For infants, there was either a crib or sufficient space for a pack n play in every bedroom.

This is our third summer of coming to HH but the first time in this home. It was perfect for our growing family of 9 adults and 8 children. We loved the pool and hot tub outside area. The kitchen had more than we needed and the bedrooms and game room were wonderful. We will definitely come again!

We booked this house because it could accommodate 6 married couples, 6 single college age adults, and 3 children under the age of 2 to celebrate the family matriarch's 85 birthday. Our annual family trip with our five adult children and 6 grandkids was enhanced through all the fun around this home! The pool was great, outdoor kitchen helped make easy yet tasty dinners and the game room was a hit with our grandkids and adults alike! Overall it was a fantastic experience, living up to the expectations we had based on the listing and the pictures. little ones loved the pool and all the beach toys and the game room, the teens loved having their own space to retreat to in the bunk house and adults enjoyed all the other spaces/amenities this place had to offer. The main house is well supplied with any cooking /dishes/pans needed. There were lots of sand toys, wave boards and chairs (no umbrellas) for the beach. One of the upstairs bedroom is joined to another and shares the same huge master toilet/ 2 vanities with a separate shower/soaking tub ( so be aware of that). Three of the other bedrooms are private suites, one which is idea for kids having lots of stuffed animals and kid books. The other bedroom has a full bath just outside the bedroom. The room over the garage has two bunk beds ( full mattress on the lower and single on the top) so best for kids. It has a vanity but the a half bath is located outside ( Also used as the pool bathroom). We paid to heat the pool and hot tub and was well worth it with the 9 grandkids.

The kitchen is awesome, and the outdoor rec area is wonderful, with some shade. The indoor game room is added bonus during relaxing evenings, or weather event. What is strange is that one of the upstairs bedrooms requires walk through another bedroom to the share bathroom, as it wasn't designed to be a bedroom, so be aware. The green egg needs service, as the top/bottom alignment is off and the seal leaks, so temp control is impaired. Easy walk to the beach. Great location. You should choose it. Darcy was great to work with. There are a lot of beach toys, chairs, but you should bring a canopy or two for shade. there are two there, but one appears to be broken. We didn't know that so we had brought our own. We had a wonderful time. The bunkhouse was great for our 7 granddaughters, with the added bed as it normally handles 6. We would rebook anytime we return if we can.

Because the home is so large there was a place for everybody in the group to go find quiet time or because some of the rooms were so large it was a great place for all of us to get together at the same time. The home is in excellent shape. The backyard pool is very private. I would highly recommend the home.

Our family celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary in this amazing home, with 10 adults and 11 kids! This house had a place for us all - at all ages - from the awesome pool, spa and outdoor space to the totally outfitted kitchen, game room, and media room with huge TV for night-time movies. Beds were comfy; bathrooms all spacious and beautifully designed. The gorgeous beach was a short walk away and it was easy to bike to Coligny Plaza to hit the Piggly Wiggly. It's centrally located to reach the rest of the island as well. None of us had ever stayed in such a well-equipped house. It has nearly every high-end appliance you could imagine, range of cook wear, grills, Smart TV and sound system. The teenage boys LOVED the towel warmer too! Thanks for an incredible week. We haven't had time like this together for many years- and probably never will again. Unforgettable.

The house was fabulous! We utilized the outdoor cooking facilities every night. We had been to HHI many times so it was wonderful to be able to enjoy the amenities of the house. Awesome pool and common areas (we had 17-20 adults in and out of the house) with room to spread out. The house was also very well equipped. Just bring your swim suit! Would definitely rent again.

Our annual vacation group has been coming to HHI for the past several years, and since we needed more room, we found 16 Mallard to be a great home with lots of space for everyone to really enjoy. The kitchen is absolutely fabulous and is so well stocked with cookware, serveware, Tupperware...made us feel like we were at home in our own kitchens! The pool and spa were just perfect for relaxing, and the short walk to the beach was so simple. The front and back porches were used every day and were a great place to start and end the day. The upstairs master was a bit unusual since it includes 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom but it will work. We had a couple of small maintenance issues and the response time and fixes were both outstanding. We would love to come back next year, but the very large rate increase just won't allow it. We truly enjoyed this beautiful house. Thanks, Jann family for sharing some great accommodations!

Without question one of our two best family vacations to date. The house itself and proximity to the beach and Coligny Square were great. Our adult children and our grandchildren had not been to Hilton Head and loved it. 16Mallard is definitely special. It is a home first. No rental feel. The kitchen is better equipped than my own. The space is so open and comfortable. The outdoor areas are second to none. We ate outside every night. The pool and spa were great for the 2 and 4 yr olds with the shallow wading area. The yard is completely private and enclosed. You really have to see this place to appreciate. We will definite return to Hilton Head and this property in particular, no need to look further. Thanks Daccey and the Jann Family for being so accommodating during our stay.

We have stayed at dozens of homes on Hilton head Island and none come close to this property. They have everything. The owners of the property have really provided all the items you need. There is an incredibly stocked kitchen second to none. The backyard is incredible with the pool, spa, fireplace and outdoor kitchen. We most definitely will stay at this home again.

this is without question the best house we have stayed at on Hilton Head Island. We have stayed here four years and love it. We have a large group, the annex is great for teens. Lots to do at the house, fabulous pool with a wading end for little ones. Chris is a great host, if there any questions or concerns, he addresses them promptly. The kitchen is a delight for the gourmet cook, super gas stove, built-in steamer! I highly recommend this home, and we will back again in the future.

You will not be disappointed. House is better than the pictures, if that is possible. The weather the week we were there was overcast and rainy, but that didn't matter. There is so much to do in the house. The hot tub and heated pool were a big hit - well worth the money to heat. Plenty of room for 17 of us. The owners are fantastic hosts.

We rented this house with our bridal party for our wedding weekend! It was large enough to hold rehearsal dinner on the patio for 40 people. It is beautiful, fully stocked.. There really isn't anything we could have asked for. The beds were not super comfortable, but that could be a matter of preference, in the grand scheme of things it is a fantastic house and we would definitely rent it again! We cannot thank the Jann family enough for the time in their rental that added to an already fabulous weekend we will remember FOREVER!

This vacation home is definitely "incredible". The pool and hot tub are great and they were perfectly heated to 87 degrees. Sitting at the outdoor fireplace was fantastic. The house was clean and organized with everything labeled and easy to find. The beach was a very short walk away and town a quick bike ride. We just returned from a week stay at 16 Mallard with a group of 8 guys on a golf trip and all we can say is Wow! This is our 15th year doing this trip and this was by far the best home we have stayed in. The home is both enormous and luxurious. It is extremely clean and well maintained. The game room and media room were great fun. As the cook for the group, I found the kitchen to be really great - well stocked with everything a chef would want, including a handy food warmer. We put a previously cooked lasagna in before we left for our round of golf and it was ready to go for lunch when we returned. But by far the greatest feature of the home is the resort like backyard, with fantastic pool and hot tub. It is so incredibly private and well furnished with loungers etc. The home is right around the corner from a great beach but we rarely went as we enjoyed to pool area some much more. The owners have a great selection of beach chairs and toys for those looking for the beach experience. The owners were a pleasure to work with and very trust-worthy. We had a minor issue with the internet service and Chris patiently talked me though it so we got it fixed. Communication was great throughout the booking process and during the lead-up period. We had no trouble accessing the property and Chris provided a detailed set of instructions to work all of the gadgets and amenities in the home, which was very helpful. The area was in a quiet neighborhood but only a mile from Coligny Plaza with lots of restaurants and shopping. We will definitely return!

This house has everything our family enjoys: pool, open spaces, great kitchen, lovely bedrooms, and a private backyard. The ocean is within easy walking even for smaller children. There is so much dining space, so that we can enjoy our meals together. The house is so beautifully decorated, it's like being in a 5-star hotel. Love the salt water pool and spa! The game room is fun for our older kids. The bedrooms are quiet so that the little ones can rest--I can only say positive things about this house.

We often stay at Hilton Head with our extended family - this year it included members from 9 months to 82 years old. For most of the family, this was the favorite house of all that we have rented. The kitchen was very well equiped, which is great when you are cooking for a large group. This house had a few extras: plenty of beach towels, two sets of washers & dryers, crib, high chair and plenty of beach toys. We will definitely look to book this house again!

Our extended family of 20 adults, a toddler, and 2 babies, gathered to celebrate our Dad's 90th birthday. 16 Mallard proved to be the absolutely perfect site for our festivities. The home's location is accurate per the website description...just a very short, scenic walk to the beach. The provided beach chairs, towels, toys, etc. were very welcome. The home itself is wonderful-quality furnishings, linens, decor, etc. The owners have anticipated every need/wish of vacationers-for every season! The kitchen is well stocked with appliances, utensils, etc. and the ice maker is amazing! We never once ran out of ice the entire week. Kitchen cabinets, shelves, drawers are labeled so that items can be returned correctly and laminated instructions are readily available for lights, a/c, electronics, etc. As wonderful as the home's interior spaces are (many in our family spent time in the game room and media room), the outdoor spaces are stellar! The two covered decks, the pool, and hot tub area are furnished with comfortable furniture and great pool floats, noodles, etc. Upon arrival, we found interior and exterior spaces to be immaculately clean and everything functioning appropriately except for the a/c in the guest house. A call to the property management firm resulted in a repair being made in a timely manner. For those guests wishing to spend more time indoors, there are numerous books, games, DVDs, toys available. Every member of our family remarked that this home is indeed a perfect beach get-away. If we should ever choose another beach vacation, we would never hesitate to return to this incredible, lovely, comfortable, quality home!

25 people had the best time. We didn't have to leave the house or pool, lots of room for everyone. This house should be on your list. With the temp at 34 outside the pool at 85 and the hot tube at 100 we had a ball--the kids wouldn't get out. We ate, and ate, we had everything we needed to cook with. My family just loved this house. We did go to the beach-not a far walk-took pictures then right back to the house. Why would you go any place else???? The ladies took walks, the guys took runs, we went shopping, we spent a day in Savanna--we are coming back and it will be at this house.

This home could not have been more perfect. There were so many things exceptional about this home that it would be hard to list them all. We certainly appreciated all the attention the owners have given to making it easy and enjoyable to spend the week there. (Labeling lighting, dimmers, plenty of refrigerator room, ice machine, sound system, great game room, modern and up to date on everything, etc, etc, etc. The pool was perfect with the beach like shallow end for little ones and large enough to accomodate large groups. Wonderful, private backyard with plenty of seating for relaxing and watching the kids in the pool. We were more than pleasantly surprised with the accomodations considering we just could see pictures from the internet. The beds were wonderful too... Wished we could come each summer. But if we ever make it back to hilton head, we will definitely check with you. Thanks again.

We had a wonderful time at your beautiful home. Everything we needed was right there. The house is 2 easy blocks from the beach. Some of us rented bikes at a very reasonable rate. The house is convenient to shopping, dining, and sightseeing. The pool was just the right size and provided a lot of downtime for the children. The hot tub was wonderful day and night because of the shade. We enjoyed going to Sea Pines, Savannah, and thrift shops. I recommend the Old Fort Pub for dinner. The description did not include the fact that one bedroom was a pass-through to the back bedroom. There was adequate dining space for all of us, and the porches made even the rain enjoyable. The large dining and foyer area made possible a ballet recital by some of the girls. The house was immaculate when we entered it, as were the grounds. All in all, it was one of the best vacation homes we've ever rented.

This home is truly a perfect vacation getaway! Very spacious, well appointed, luxury furnishings, fully stocked, beautiful porches for coffee in the morning, a home away from home! We had several adults for a reunion stay and with separate bathrooms in each bedroom there was total privacy. We rented this home to have our annual family reunion. There were 16 of us. This home afforded us plenty of room, great amenities (the bathrooms are to die for), a fabulous and well stocked kitchen (everything you need to create a great dining environment), very comfortable bedding, and close proximity to the beach. We stayed at this wonderful house last weekend for a girls' getaway. There were 8 of us and the house was not crowded in the least. It's a short distance to the beach and to Coligny Square - where there's a Piggly Wiggly grocery store and many re.staurants and shops. We're very picky ladies and everything aspect of the house was amazing. We didn't even get to the basement to use the pool table and other games table while we were there. I personally met the owners and they are extremely nice people and very easy to work with. They pay a lot of attention to detail throughout the house. I could go on and on, but I don't want it to be booked next year when we return next year, since we decided we had to visit at least one per year!

We just returned from an unforgettable family vacation at 16 Mallard, and were completely overwhelmed by how amazing it is. The house is incredible, with every possible amenity you can imagine. The kitchen is truly a dream which made cooking fun for everyone. Loved the separate ice maker and the warming oven. There are so many places to eat, both inside and out, that we could have chosen a different one for every meal! The kids, big and small, LOVED having a TV in every room and being able to quickly access the internet. We were concerned about not being right on the beach, but it is just a short walk away, and the backyard more than made up for it. It's worth the price just for the pool area itself. This house is wonderful, the pictures don't do it justice. The whole house is very high end. We loved the pool and the hot tub... the whole pool area is great. The game room and the media room were hits with all the kids. The boys loved staying in the "bunk house" as they called it. The kitchen is a dream kitchen.... the ice machine is an extra you don't get in other houses. Every deck area has fans, the grill is large enough to cook a feast. The master suite is something you have to see to believe. All the bedrooms were great, beds were all just like home....extra towels were provided as well as beach towels for the pool, so you don't have to worry about laundry all the time. The pool is one of the largest we have seen. There are pool toys to use and wonder tables and chairs to lounge in. The second refridg is in the game room just off from the pool, so there is always a cold beverage to be had by the pool. The beach is a short walk and they provide you with beach toys, chairs, and a cart to carry all your beach stuff in. There are even coolers to use if you want to take them to the beach. Our family truly loved this house and hope to be able to come back again some day.

I cannot say enough great things about this property and its owner! It house itself is really open and spacious, well decorated, comfortable, homey and clean. All of the bedrooms are really nice (especially the master bedroom, it has a yoga studio off of it!) and the kitchen is amazing! We had 22 people staying in the house and we never felt crowded. The decks are really nice and we spent a ton of time out there from breakfast to dinner. Great pool and hot tub and really close to the beach. We were nervous about the proximity to the beach but shouldn't have been, it takes 1 minute to walk! The street is pretty quiet and we were nervous that we might be too loud for the neighbors but they were really understanding and let us know directly if they had any complaints. The owners and property maintenance staff were superb and helped us out so much. They were really accessible during the whole week and were so prompt about getting anything fixed or replaced or anything else we needed. Basically you cannot go wrong if you are looking for a fabulous, luxurious and fun beach vacation home!

This house really exceeded any and all expectations. The area behind the house is an oasis - it has a great patio area perfect for barbecuing and soaking in the rays. The pool is great, and it even connects the hot tub, which sits directly below the patio. This house is great for any large number of people, whether you are a group of friends or a large family. And it even has a game room downstairs for kids, including a pool table and an arcade-style basketball shootout challenge. 16 Mallard is as good of a bang for your buck as you're going to find in North Forest Beach.

This place was an ideal rental for our yearly family get together. We stayed in September 09'. To my amazement this house is completely updated with the lastest and greatest of technologies. Not only could I watch TV in every room, there is a wireless connection, so I could keep up with my office during the week. There is a huge kitchen area which was great for us to prepare all our meals and with all the people you never were bumping into everyone. Rooms were very clean and very cozy and the master made us feel like we were in a castle with all the space. There was even a bunk house for some of the kids to have some space and us to have some peace. As good as it is on the inside there is plenty of room outside the house. There are several decks that allow plenty of room to lounge, play cards, sit in the sun including down by the pool and hot tub, which the kids and all of us enjoyed everyday. One of the biggest perks with all of this house was that the beach was literally around the corner, maybe a 2 football field walk. The Caron's will definitely be back next summer.
