Family Attractions

The beach may be the main attraction on Hilton Head Island, but there's plenty more for families to explore. Spend a morning discovering the Lowcountry, climb one of the island's most recognizable landmarks, let the little ones learn through play, or set sail on a pirate adventure. Here are a few of our favorite Hilton Head family attractions to add to your vacation.

• The Sandbox Children's Museum - The Sandbox is a hands-on children's museum designed for younger kids to play, explore, and use their imaginations. It's also one to keep in your back pocket for a rainy Hilton Head afternoon.  
• Coastal Discovery Museum - Located at historic Honey Horn, the Coastal Discovery Museum introduces families to Hilton Head's wildlife, history, natural environment, and Lowcountry culture. Explore the grounds beneath the live oaks and learn a little more about the island you're calling home for the week.  
• Harbour Town Lighthouse - The red-and-white striped Harbour Town Lighthouse is one of Hilton Head's most recognizable landmarks. Climb to the top for views over Harbour Town Yacht Basin and the surrounding waterways, then leave some time to explore Harbour Town afterward.  
• Pirates of Hilton Head- For younger kids ready for a real pirate adventure, Hilton Head's pirate cruise combines a boat ride with characters, treasure hunting, and plenty of participation along the way. Don't be surprised if they stay in character for the rest of the day.
